Polynomial

A polynomial in the variable x is an algebraic expression of the form a_nxⁿ + a_n-1x^n-1 + ... + a₁x + a₀, where n is a whole number and each a_i is a constant. The a_i's are called the coefficients of the polynomial. If a_n is nonzero, the degree of the polynomial is the number n.
