Go to the page http://math.exeter.edu/rparris/winlab.html and download the freeware program Winlab. (Click here for an alternative to Winlab.) If you need some help downloading, follow these steps:
Click on the Winlab link and save the program to your desktop.
Double-click on the new Winlabz icon on your desktop. A DOS window should open when you do; simply close that window when nothing is happening.
The Winlab icon should now appear on your desktop. You may discard the old Winlabz program by dragging the icon to the recycle bin.
Use Winlab to experiment with star polygons. If you need some help, follow these steps:
Open Winlab by double-clicking on the icon.
Select Window and then Star from the menu.
Make sure that the option "join k and k+d" is selected.
To draw a star polygon enter values for n and d. For instance, to draw Star(9,4), enter n=9 and d=4.
Once you feel comfortable working with Winlab's star polygons, proceed to the next page.
