• Go to the page http://math.exeter.edu/rparris/winlab.html and download the freeware program Winlab. (Click here for an alternative to Winlab.) If you need some help downloading, follow these steps:

  • Click on the Winlab link and save the program to your desktop.

  • Double-click on the new Winlabz icon on your desktop. A DOS window should open when you do; simply close that window when nothing is happening.

  • The Winlab icon should now appear on your desktop. You may discard the old Winlabz program by dragging the icon to the recycle bin.

• Use Winlab to experiment with star polygons. If you need some help, follow these steps:

  • Open Winlab by double-clicking on the icon.

  • Select Window and then Star from the menu.

  • Make sure that the option "join k and k+d" is selected.

  • To draw a star polygon enter values for n and d. For instance, to draw Star(9,4), enter n=9 and d=4.

• Once you feel comfortable working with Winlab's star polygons, proceed to the next page.
