Improving Mathematics Education in America's Poorest Suburb Project Objectives

The objectives of this grant project are:

1. Improve continuity in the Cottage Grove Middle School (CGMS) math curriculum, and align the curriculum with the Illinois Learning Standards as well as state and district mandated assessments.

2. Deepen CGMS teachers' content knowledge and pedagogy skills.

3. Provide CGMS math teachers the tools and knowledge necessary to create classroom environments centered on student thinking and discussion.

4. Increase collegiality among the CGMS math teachers.
